A Little Knitting Blog

Kristen - A Little Homie

I love knitting!  My Aunt taught me to knit dishcloths when I was a young girl.  I picked up the needles again for my first anniversary, and I haven’t put them down for over 14 years.

I love the texture of quality yarns.  I prefer all natural yarns.  I have even been trying to learn to spin for the last 6 years.  (One of my favorite projects is a pair of fingerless gloves I made from wool I had carded, spun and then dyed with beets!)

Since acrylic yarns tend to be cheaper, easier to get, and easier to maintain, I end up using them in a lot of my projects, too.

My "windy" personality means I love to frequently keep things fresh and new. I enjoy working with a wide variety of yarn colors as I knit, and I enjoy constantly trying new patterns with new textures and colors. But I always try to keep a stand-by knitting pattern (DISHCLOTHS AND BLANKETS!) for THOSE kinds of days…Do you know what I mean?

My preference for newness, mixed with my need for always having easy knitting on hand, leaves me with about 10 unfinished knitting projects lying around at all times. Maybe one day I will get them organized...we'll see about that! For now, I enjoy finding knitting projects I had forgotten about and picking them up as if they were new.

Knitting Blog: The Aviator Hat

Aviator Hat

I found this ADORABLE baby aviator hat pattern on Craftsy.com

The knitting pattern was only $4, and my baby NEEDS a winter hat. What a great way to help support a fellow knitter, get my hobby fix and keep my little guy warm on the noggin all in one shot!

It was a pretty simple knitting project. The pattern is really well written, and the author includes some helpful photos.
